In the TV show, the Maximals were a faction of Transformers descended from the Autobots, who continued to fight for their homeland against the forces of evil. Although the trailer does not confirm it, it is likely that the Maximals also came from the future with Primal, voiced byron perlman, warning Optimus Prime of impending danger from "both his past and his future".

What makes the difference for Maximals is the choice of transformation, as these robots disguise themselves as animals rather than vehicles, explaining the image of a giant robotic gorilla taking on Optimus Prime himself. We've also seen Bumblebee with an updated design from his 2018 movie. Bridging the gap between the 1980s and 2000s versions of the character, this revamped Bee has all of the bot's recognizable features in an updated, yet still retro design. Although Bee was the star of the previoustransformersmovie, it looks like he'll be sharing the spotlight with the other new additions to the cast. The trailer also introduces us to Noah and Mirage. Noah, played byAntonio Ramos, will assume the ever-important position of human ally to the Autobots. Carrying on the legacy of Sam Witwicky, Noah is shown in a frenzy of disarray when his car, emblazoned with the Autobot logo viewers are familiar with, takes control, forcing him on the run from the police.

The trailer continues by sharing the expanded roster of costumed robots in a series of exciting action scenes. We see Bumblebee in a more off-road focused vehicle mode than previous forms. Joining him is the next Maximal we're introduced to: Cheetor. The speedy mechanized cheetah looms over Bee, making it clear that while the Maximals derive their alternate modes from animals, they are altered versions that appear more Cybertronian than Earth-based. The interactions between the two yellow bots will be exciting for fans, as Bumblebee and Cheetor will play the role of "little brothers" between their respective factions. Both are fast, confident, yellow and have a youth that makes them an integral part of their team's dynamic.

Following the falcon, we see Arcee, the most iconic female Autobot. While she's appeared in a few live-action movies before, this iteration of the character seems to have a bigger and more dynamic role in this movie. Her design, like Prime's, resembles her appearance in the original television series, but updated for a modern aesthetic. Considering the abundance of male Transformers in the franchise, the inclusion of Arcee is an exciting progression for the series. She is seen clinging to a Volkswagen van to help her skid down the road and fight her opponent. In keeping with the "Robots in Disguise" catchphrase, the VW pickup itself is actually another Autobot in his alternate mode. Wheeljack, one of the leading Autobot scientists, appeared briefly inBeeand forgoes the usual look it had in other versions to take on the form of a more discreet van in this trailer.Liza KoshyArcee voices andCristo FernandezHe will voice Wheeljack.

'Transformers: Rise of the Beasts' Breakdown Trailer: First Look at Autobots, Maximals, and Terrorcons (5)

While there are no Decepticons in this trailer, there's no shortage of villains seen in this sequel, as we're seeing the Terrorcons for the first time. This faction of Transformers is supposed to have a deep connection to the Autobots, either from their past or their future. First, we see Battletrap in his orange armored truck mode and robot form, attacking the Autobots and Maximals. Sobolov takes on two roles in the film, also voicing Battletrap and Rhinox.

Scourge, the leader of these mysterious Terrorcons, makes a memorable appearance as he utterly dominates Bumblebee in combat. The fight looks brutal and Bee appears to be in grave danger, showing the immense threat the Terrorcons pose to our heroes. Since Optimus Prime and Optimus Primal will be working together, Scourge is set to be an incredibly powerful antagonist for the heroes.Pedro Dinklagewill be the voice of the leader of Terrorcon. We see our heroes and villains face off in a dynamic sequence that shows the robotic forms of Optimus Primal and Cheetor in brief flashes.
